Founded in 1986, the Middlebury Darkroom was originally created to develop and print the Middlebury College yearbook.
Since 2017, it has provided open access to film cameras, materials, and hands-on training in analog photography.
In 2024, the Darkroom expanded into digital photography, becoming a campus-wide photography hub that supports students from learning and practice to professional opportunities

This is why we built this website: to give students real-world opportunities to practice their photography and studio art, so that photography becomes not just an interest, but a meaningful goal and a way to realize their value
